The Ministry of Justice, headed by Pilar Llop, has implemented new updates to the Digital Immediacy Virtual Desktop (EVID) that enhance user flexibility and security, and allow officials to handle procedures via videoconference, as well as create and manage appointments.
The acting Minister of Justice explained that these advances in EVID "improve and streamline the procedures carried out by both the workers of the Administration of Justice and the public, since digital transformation provides a comprehensive change that benefits all those involved.".
According to Ministry data, from January 2020 to August 2023, more than 100,000 remote proceedings were carried out in various provinces of Spain. Among the most notable figures are those of the Balearic Islands, with 25,723 proceedings resolved; Granada, with 16,604; and Badajoz, with a total of 14,431 proceedings completed.
Implementations developed in the last two versions of EVID
Among the most important implementations developed in the last two versions of EVID are the Authentication with Cl@ve Justicia and the enabling of the option to use Pseudonym Certificates, especially used by the State Security Forces and Corps or medical professionals.
Furthermore, hybrid meetings have been implemented, combining remote participation by one party via videoconference with the physical presence of the other at the court. This measure will allow for identification and signatures to be obtained using digital signature capture devices, ensuring that all proceedings remain digital and paperless.
Regarding smart devices, citizens can also view the receipt shared on screen by the relevant authority. Furthermore, the platform enables the inclusion of information for each action, facilitating the integration of these actions into the court file and making it easier to locate. In this way, the platform is prepared for future integrations with other systems such as Minerva.
Currently, work is underway on new improvements, such as optimizing emails to improve communication, adding a range of vision for those summoned, facilitating the search for help, and establishing a protocol for action for the organizations.
