Tributs Lleida, the municipal tax collection agency of the Lleida Provincial Council, has launched a pilot program offering video assistance to allow citizens to carry out tax procedures online with the same guarantees as in-person service at the agency's offices. This new service, being implemented for the first time in the Lleida region, is specifically designed to facilitate electronic interaction with the administration without requiring advanced technical knowledge. Users will be able to speak with a person, rather than a form, who will guide them through the process.
Currently, to use e-government and its advantages, such as saving time and travel, it is necessary to have a digital certificate and know how to use and understand the electronic processing platforms. This means having access to electronic devices and being an 'advanced user' both technically and in understanding the administrative procedure. Video assistance aims to bridge this digital divide and make the relationship with the administration clearer, since, for example, by showing their ID card to the camera, the system validates the identity of the user carrying out the procedure.
In the second phase of the pilot program, public spaces equipped with computers and internet access will be made available for citizens who lack these resources. The town halls of Bellpuig and La Pobla de Segur will be the first to equip their offices with computers for citizens to use and receive video consultations with Tributs Lleida. If the trials are successful, many citizens will be able to receive assistance directly from their own town hall instead of having to travel to one of the 10 offices in the district.
